Orphan Sponsorship Program - An-Najah National University
In cooperation with the Palestinian Orphan Support Association in ‎Germany and the Palestine Children’s Welfare Association in Canada as ‎well as a number of sponsors, institutions and individuals, the Orphan ‎Sponsorship program was launched in 2002. The program aims to ‎shed light into the lives of impoverished orphaned children, so that one ‎day they can become educated individuals who can alleviate their ‎communities out of poverty.‎

How many children are sponsored through the CPFQ Palestinian Child Sponsorship Program?

There are currently about 320 sponsored children in our program.

Does the Child Sponsorship Program employ staff or use volunteers?

Since the Child Sponsorship program was established in 1999, it has been administered by dedicated volunteers who give their time in a variety of areas, including clerical and administration, communications, fundraising and information technology.

What does a sponsor provide?

A sponsor provides financial support (a minimum of $73 CAD per month, which includes a $3 payment processing fee) to enable a Palestinian child to access food, clothing, shelter, education, and medical assistance.

How much of my sponsorship donations will go to my child?

All your sponsorship donations and extra monetary gifts (i.e.; for birthdays, Ramadan, Christmas; etc) will go to your sponsored child. The Child Sponsorship Program does not deduct anything for administrative fees. Separate fund-raising is used to cover banking fees (including wire transfer costs), office supplies, website maintenance, postage stamps, printing or long distance telephone charges; etc. Our Palestinian NGO partners also do not deduct any fees from your sponsorship donations.

How long is the commitment for sponsorship?

We require a minimum of one year, but most sponsors continue helping their child until they reach the age of 18. If sponsoring a child isn’t right for you, there is also an option available to make a general donation to the Child Sponsorship Program on the donation page.

Does the CPFQ Child Sponsorship Program provide tax receipts for sponsors and donors?

The Canadian Palestinian Foundation of Quebec (CPFQ), a registered charity in good standing with the Government of Canada “BN/Registration Number: 127472926RR0001” issues receipts for sponsors and donors to the Child Sponsorship Program at the end of each tax year.

When will I receive my tax receipt?

Receipts are mailed no later than the end of February of the year following your donations.

What if I do not speak Arabic?

Correspondence is translated by the CPFQ Child Sponsorship Program. You will receive your child’s original message as well as the translated copy in French or English.

Is the Child Sponsorship Program a faith-based organization?

No, we are not faith-based and our program serves all Palestinian children, regardless of religion.

How do I sponsor a child?

Under the donation page, select the option to sponsor a child. After that, select the number of children you would like to sponsor, where you would like to sponsor a child (Gaza or the West Bank), and you can get started with the process of sponsoring a child.

What are my payment options?

You may make donations via MasterCard, Visa, preauthorized banking, cash or cheque.

Do I have to live in Canada to participate in the program?

No, you do not need to reside in Canada (Canadian residents qualify to receive charitable receipts). Many of our sponsors reside in the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
